Seit 1995 steht Matt & Nat für Mat(t)erial and Nature. Dabei setzt das Team aus Montreal seit ihrer Gründung auf ausschließlich vegane Materialien. Für diesen Einsatz für Mode ohne tierische Produkte wurde das Label auch von PETA mit dem proggy Award ausgezeichnet. Die sportlichen Taschen, Rucksäcke, Shopper und Accessoires werden hauptsächlich aus dem umweltfreundlichen Polyurethane (PU) oder PVC gefertigt, mit denen die Designer ein lederähnlichen Look und Feel erreichen. Darüberhinaus versucht der Gründer auch weitere umweltfreundliche Materialien, wie recyceltes PET und Nylon sowie Kork und Naturkautschuk einzusetzen. Die veganen und nachhaltigen Designs haben bereits auch Hollywood erobert. So sieht man regelmäßig Stars wie Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron und Tobey Maguiere mit den Entwürfen aus Kanada auf dem roten Teppich.

The vegan and sustainable designs have already conquered Hollywood. Stars such as Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Tobey Maguiere are regularly seen wearing the designs from Canada on the red carpet.
