Maqu

Maqu ist nicht nur Marisa Fuentes Prados Spitzname, sondern auch der Name ihres Fair Fashion Labels. Aufgewachsen ist die Designerin in einer Familie, in der Kleidungsproduktion Tradition hat. Ihre Großmutter hatte im peruanischem Lima eine eigene Textilproduktion aufgebaut. Maqu folgte in ihre Fußstapfen und mit einer Liebe für Kunst, Design und Fotografie war das Modestudium eine logische Folge. Über die Stationen Kopenhagen landete Maqu schließlich in Berlin, wo sie ihr erstes eigenes Label gründete.

Seit 2015 hat sich das Label etabliert und wächst stetig weiter. Dabei legt Maqu neben nachhaltigen Stoffen und Verarbeitungstechniken besonderen Wert auf das Handwerk und dessen Wertschätzung. Mit einem kleinen Team aus Schneider*innen fertigt sie ihre Kollektionen. Dabei stehen neben der Arbeitszufriedenheit ihrer Mitarbeiter*innen auch Themen, wie Zeitdruck im Mittelpunkt des Schaffens. Denn nur wenn Mitarbeiter*innen Zeit haben, Stücke in Ruhe zu fertigen wird sowohl das Ergebnis selbst gut als auch die Angestellten zufrieden mit ihrer Arbeit sein.

Maqu is not only Marisa Fuentes Prado's nickname, but also the name of her fair fashion label. The designer grew up in a family with a tradition of clothing production. Her grandmother had built up her own textile production in Lima, Peru. Maqu followed in her footsteps and with a love for art, design and photography, studying fashion was a logical consequence. Via stops in Copenhagen, Maqu eventually landed in Berlin, where she founded her first own label. 
Since 2015, the label has established itself and continues to grow. In addition to sustainable fabrics and processing techniques, Maqu places particular emphasis on craftsmanship and its appreciation. She produces her collections with a small team of tailors. In addition to the job satisfaction of her employees, topics such as time pressure are also at the center of her work. Because only if employees have time to produce pieces in peace, both the result itself will be good and the employees will be satisfied with their work.
