Nur ein weiteres Imitat der legendären Chucks? Mitnichten!
Alles begann mit der Idee, den ersten fair produzierten Fussball der Welt herzustellen. Da es aber kein zertifiziertes Gummi gab, machten es die beiden Gründer James Lloyd und Dr. Martin Kunz einfach selbst und waren damit die ersten, die Naturkautschuk als Rohstoff für Gummi nach dem FSC-Standard zertifizieren konnten. Dass ethletic für seine Schuhe bekannt geworden ist, ist eher einem Zufall zu verdanken. Nach eigenen Angaben rutschte einem Mitarbeiter in der Mittagspause bei einem der Produzenten der bekannte Chuck Taylor Schuh aus der Tasche. Die Mitarbeiter der Produktion merkten an, einen solchen Schuh könnten sie auch herstellen. Und so kam es auch. Der Schuh, der dem Original aus patentrechtlichen Gründen "nicht ähnelt", wird heute aus Fairtrade zertifizierte Bio-Baumwolle und einer FSC-zertifizierten Naturkautschuksohle unter fairen Arbeitsbedingungen in Indien hergestellt. Darüber hinaus kommt der Schuh ohne den Einsatz tierischer Produkte aus und ist auch zertifiziert vegan. Neben den beiden klassischen Produkten, bietet ethletic weitere urbane Sneaker, Skaterschuhe und Ballerinas an.

Just another imitation of the legendary Chucks? Not at all! 
It all started with the idea of producing the world's first fairly produced football. Since there was no certified rubber, the two founders James Lloyd and Dr. Martin Kunz simply did it themselves and were the first to certify natural rubber as a raw material for rubber according to the FSC-Standard. The fact that ethletic has become known for its shoes is more a thanks to a coincidence. According to their own account, an employee slipped the well-known Chuck Taylor shoe out of his pocket during his lunch break at one of the producers. The production staff remarked that they could also make such a shoe. And so they did. The shoe, which "does not resemble" the original for patent reasons, is now made from Fairtrade certified organic cotton and an FSC certified natural rubber sole under fair working conditions in India. Furthermore, the shoe does not use any animal products and is also certified vegan. In addition to the two classic products, ethletic offers other urban sneakers, skate shoes and ballerinas.
