Belle Ikat

Belle Ikat ist ein Modelabel aus Mannheim, dass sich (wie der Name schon verrät) durch das besondere Material „Ikat“ auszeichnet. Ikat-Stoffe entstehen durch eine spezielle Webtechnik, die noch vor Kurzem von der Vergessenheit bedroht war. Im Fergana Tal in Usbekistan werden die Ikat-Textilien nach regionaler Tradition an großen Webstühlen Handgefertigt. Seit der Unabhängikeit Usbekistans fördert die Regierung die Renaissance alter Handwerkskünste. Zwei Wochen braucht es um einen 40 cm breiten Stoff zu fertigen. Belle Ikat arbeitet mit ausgewählten Manufakturen in Usbekistan zusammen, die ausschließlich mit ökologischen Farben färben und in Handarbeit die besonderen Stoffe produzieren.

Aus Seide, reiner Baumwolle und Leinen besteht die Kollektion. Beim Thema Seide scheiden sich allerdings die Geister. Bei den meisten Seiden Produktionen wird die Raupe im Kokon getötet, damit sie sich nicht durch die Hülle befreien kann und dabei die Seide durchlöchert. So kann das Seiden Filament (Rohmaterial) in voller Länge vom Kokon gewickelt werden und hat eine Hohequalität.

Das Belle Ikat Design ist bunt, luxuriös und hat durch die besondere Musterung der Ikatstoffe einen starken Wiedererkennungswert.  Beim Betrachten der Einzelstücke kommt sofort ein Bedürfnis nach Reisen, Wärme und nach dem Eintauchen in andere Kulturen auf.

Belle Ikat is a fashion label from Mannheim that (as the name suggests) is characterized by the special textile "Ikat". Ikat fabrics are created by a special weaving technique, which until recently was threatened with oblivion. In the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan, Ikat textiles are handmade on large looms according to regional tradition. Since Uzbekistan's independence, the government has been promoting the renaissance of ancient crafts. It takes two weeks to make a 40 cm wide fabric. The fashion label works with selected manufacturers in Uzbekistan, who dye exclusively with ecological colors and produce the special fabrics by craftmanship.

The collection consists of silk, pure cotton and linen. However, opinions differ on the subject of silk. In most silk productions, the caterpillar is killed in the cocoon so that it cannot free itself through the wrapper, perforating the silk. This allows the silk filament (raw material) to be fully wound from the cocoon in full length and have high quality.

The Belle Ikat design is colorful, luxurious and has a strong recognition value due to the special patterning of the Ikat fabrics.  When looking at the individual pieces, a need for travel, warmth and immersion in other cultures arises immediately.
